For those who celebrated Eid on Tuesday
Our scholars in yemen said that we have to Fast an additional day, because Ramathan was not completed. We celebrated eid on the 29th of Ramathan.
I'll cover that day this Saturday, because on Thursday i have work and college anyone fasting?

Re: For those who celebrated Eid on Tuesday
Eid was celebrated on Wednesday in Sa'ada, Yemen, because the Houthis wanted to celebrate it in their own way. I think sticking with jama3ah and celebrating Eid on Tuesday was the right thing to do. True, Yemen might have followed hilal sighting from Saudi Arabia, and many scholars would say that if Hilal is seeing in one Muslim place and others know of it, they should follow that particular sighting. Some scholars say as long as two countries share any part of the day, then Hilal sighting in one of them implies sighting in both.
If you ask me, it is all political from the Houthis. The reason being, Yemen has been following sighting in Saudi Arabia for the past few years, and they have always fasted with us and broke fast with us, but why not this year?
Eid Mubarak to you zlink and Yemenreform. I hope you're feeling better YR? We missed reading for both of you.
BTW, how is Eid in NYC? Just as dull as anywhere else in the Western hemisphere?

Re: For those who celebrated Eid on Tuesday
We celebrated on Wednesday here. There was no authentic moonsighting anywhere in North America suggesting the celebration in Tuesday; and also all calculations suggested the new month(Shawal) to be on Wednseday; and also scientifically, it was impossible to see the Hilal on Monday night in North america and even in Yemen. Check out moonsighting.com for more info on Visibility Charts.
BUT, i say that unity is more important than when to start/end Ramadan. And what if I start one day earlier or end the fast one day later. The problem is cutting Ramadan short like what happened this year. In that case, I don't know; but personally, I would fast one day to make up for the lost day (although I don't have to; but just in case).
About the Houthis, Osama, I don't think that the Houthis wanted their special day! It's all about the principles/bases you adapt before making such a decision. And as you know there are a few VALID opinions on this matter and one of them is you fast when YOU(in YOUR COUNTRY) see the Hilal and i'm a 100% that the Hilal of Eid was not seen in Yemen( or even Saudi) on the 29th (Monday) evening. Because of that, Alhothi or anyone else can complete Ramadan and be on the Safe Side. However, if government that you live under announces that Eid was tomorrow, then you must follow regardless of your personal opinion. If something is wrong, they will carry it. And I don't the Houthis recognize the government that has been killing them for no obvoius reason for years now for us to expect them to follow them in their "wrong sighting" of the moon.
Salamz!!

Salamz!! Ya waleed Ya waleed Waynak ya bro???? Yemenis here in NY fast According to yemen, Yemen fasts with K.S.A (giblat al muslmeen) Why do others have their own fasting dates allahu a3lam. All though ya waleed " when a man came to al rasool and told him he has sighted the moon, Al rasool pbuh said " atashed an la illah ila allah" the man said yes and said it, al rasool then decided to break the fast after Thuher prayer"
