 Re: Now What !!!
I will admit I was getting a little discouraged/annoyed by negative useless posts from Bishara/Taiba
I think the YSAA was and still could be one of the best English Yemeni forums around. I thank everyone that participated in the past as part of my extended virtual Yemeni family.

 Re: Now What !!!
Hello Everyone,
Great insights and enthusiasm.
I am happy that every of you loves to keep the YSAA alive, and I agree with what some of you said that we have to change methodology and maybe the whole vision we have.
I have some ideas that I am really interested to share with you.
We would love to improve the YSAA objectives, but I know –from experience- that working on this matter could lead to nowhere if we do not organize the discussion.
Here is what I suggest,
Waleed, Osama, and I are still members of YSAA committee, and we reserve the right to decide for YSAA – at least for the time being.
We will engage in some discussions on how to go from here, and we will always come back for your opinion as we progress.
The most important thing for now is that you provide us with ideas for the YSAA.
Again, thank you everyone,
Let’s keep it up,
Ameen

 Re: Now What !!!
Wa alikum al salam
Good topic yemenvista, this shows that you guys are very concerned about this website or should i say internet community.
Look i started participating here since i was in high school, i brought over some friends to join this family but unfortunately they couldn't keep up with the controversial topics that were here. I Don't mean to stop these topics, what i mean is to have them to a limit. Instead we could talk more effectively about yemeni community and its inner changes in an understandable manner. We could also talk about student's concerns Abroad Such as how could a yemeni student Live Abroad and still maintain his islamic acts.
Bottom line brothers and sisters, we could talk about things that concern us as students, this will attract others to participate and give their feedbacks.

 Re: Now What !!!
aslam 3likum all, As i mentioned previously the Ysaa needs to be advertised to new students, and here are some of my ideas of how we can do so. I noticed that Yemenreform used to mention something about the Ysaa on every clip he downloads on youtube and now he doesnt do that anymore, wouldnt it be a good idea if he does that again so that some new students may become aware of it existence. I also had the idea of posting a forward via email, where it informs the student of the Ysaa and tells them to forward it to other Yemeni students they may know. In this way many students would get to know of the Ysaa and may join and contribute. (Btw theses are just ideas)
P.s Yemenreform dont be discouraged by those negaitve useless post because i think Bishara/taiba main aim is to annoy and discourage us, personally i would never let her/him achieve their aim or goal and nor should you. The Ysaa could be 'one of the best English Yemeni forums around ' if not the best! salam

We could also promote this forum in social networking sites such as facebook. I realized some of the members here have it.

 Re: Now What !!!
I don't think that more advertisement is the answer, although I am welling to help promote the site through babalyemen videos and many other possible ways.
Here are some obstacles that I see:-
1- The site has mostly english topics and english language buttons and controls. Most Yemenis around the world are not fluent in english. If they know a little, they are intimidated by the quality of writing from Walid, Osama, YIC and yemenvista. These guys write essays for responses. LOL Maybe I am a little guilty too. 2- We need control over negative topics that have no purpose besides highlighting how bad Yemen is. We are not here to say Yemen is the best and live in LALA land, but we don't need anyone to spit on our country for no constructive purpose. 3- Most of the current members are no longer students and don't have as much time to write on the forum on a daily bases.
I don't want to focus on the negative, but I did like that book club idea. The book was a little long. I also liked the media watch idea.

 Re: Now What !!!
First, I would like to applaud the people who are taking the responsibility in maintaining this forum and ensuring its functionality, and No! It is not in vain! Yemencrystal brought up a good point in regard to English is being the language of the forum could be an obstacle, but what is more important is that the forum is called Yemeni Students Association ABROAD! There can be much done about that at the moment. What I think is more important is to engage students from Yemen! The ones who live – day by day – the reality of the country and the ones more likely to have a direct influence. Advertizing is important but where to advertize is even more important!
I agree with most of the suggestion above in this regard but I would like to add to it. We have many educational institutions (English Languages institutes, English highs schools, universities,..etc) if we can engage Yemeni youth from there to know about the forum that should help create the required continuity, which is my next point.
Yemeni youth have lots of passion and welling to take on new initiatives but usually fails to ensure continuity! The same people who start the initiative seem to get stuck with running it forever! If we can engage new comers and motivate them take on responsibilities then we can achieve the required continuity (E.g. A flyer posted at bulletin board in a language institute or an English school, Amidst,..etc, can help). Basically new blood is needed!
At the end the forum is a place where we share thoughts and opinions, which should lead eventually in one way or another to fruitful - but not necessary visible in the short run - results. Sharing influences us - in a good way - without us feeling its positive effect

 Re: Now What !!!
Maybe the YSAA could be re-classifiied as "Yemeni Students and Alumni Abroad"? As noted, most students are no longer students and may feel don't belong here anymore? Just three cents worth. Peace!
