About me form 1st grade to 6th grade (1991-1997) at Azal Modern School.

Form 7th to 12th grade (1997-2003) at Yemen Modern School.

From my point of view these schools were not that good and I really didn’t like them at all, especially YMS.

I know this topic is over a year old but I think it's pretty cool. I went through all the posts and since there are always new members joining in, someone should revive it every few months.

Since yic is my brother and we never went to separate schools I'm just pasting his part in mine and changing the years :P

Mohammed Ali Othman: Preschool (two years I think)
Al-Mostagbal Al-Jadeed: Grade 1 (1990-1991)
Yemen Modern School: Grade 2m - Grade 12e (1991-2002)
I was in Ali Othman for KG only but I remember it, remember the principal don't know her name and my American chubby sports/everything-else teacher. I also remember the playground and getting hurt in one of the slides - don't know if it was me or my brother but someone got hurt and my brother had a friend who used to tell him all these stories about jenn and yic would pass them on to me and I would be terrified

Mostagbal was awful awful awful, the principal was a big fan of group punishment aka hitting on palms with all sorts of creative tools, for example, plastic water pipes

YMS was my school from the year it was opened in 1990 till I graduated in 2002. Good school, good principal she knew us all so well I love her.

For YMS alum,

Nabiji taught for so many years -great person,
I liked radfan a lot too,
Stephen was a good teacher but we never got along,
Veronica Indian Science teacher from years ago, she's not there anymore - she was mean but good.
Didn't get along with most of my religion class teachers except for Mohamed Zaid who only taught us for few months and Saboor,
Riyadh was mean but he was a great Arabic teacher, Tahseen-awful,
Don't remember one decent Ijtima'yat teacher, I don't know if I blame the teacher or the books
Mr. Tal'at for georgraphy was alright, "Bot Whoy?"
and there was Abllah khalidah who used to call herself the walking encyclopedia
and way back in elementary school there was Abllah Aziza and Abllah Sumaiyah for sports and Music.

i want to stop but one memory drags the other.

Hello Thana,, I have been to that school for only half a year lol
it was nice I liked it..
I laso agree with Ak_47. YMS is kind of overrated. I have never liked it as a school, the only reason I like it now becuase I have made great friends.

I started at the American School, not SIS the other one, that my father Dan Davis was the principal of. He then later taught at YMS and eventually was Director of Amideast's offices in Aden. I was at YMS, as was my sister, for most of my secondary education, but I finished my last year at the American School in Hada. I'm impressed that Izzy was able to remember the names of all the teachers, the only two I remembered were Nabiji and Pahutski. Soetjis computer classes were always fun. He would say "macnatic" instead of magnetic, lol. Anyway, hope all former classmates are doing well.
